El Bahri et al. describe it as follows: 'The stems are erect, reddish and their lower part is ligneous. The leaves are alternate, green or brownish, and toothed. The flowers are arranged in ovoid or globular capitules. The flowering period in Tunisia is August to October. The fruit is an achene without hooked spines.' It grows in North Africa. Ingestion of large amounts of young growths can cause diarrhea in goats. |
